Hi, I’m Savannah — the creator behind Positively Schmidt’N

I've called the Texas Panhandle my home for over twenty years, and in that time this place has shaped who I am as a creator. There’s something about wide‑open skies, strong community, and simple everyday beauty that inspires me to make things that feel warm, useful, and full of character. I learned to crochet in my early teens, and for my 18th birthday my parents gifted me my first sewing machine. I made my very first quilt on that machine, and that’s where my love for sewing really took off.

As an adult, my creative life took on a deeper meaning. My husband, David, and I have walked through eight years of infertility and recurrent miscarriages. Those experiences took a toll on my heart and my mental health, and I found myself needing a place to pour my emotions, my energy, and my hope.

That’s when I discovered jelly roll rugs — long strips of fabric and batting stitched together into something colorful, sturdy, and unexpectedly full of personality. Creating them became a grounding, joyful outlet for me. What started as a way to heal slowly grew into something I wanted to share with others.

And that’s how Positively Schmidt’N was born — a small handmade business built on creativity, resilience, and the belief that beauty can come from the scraps life hands us.

Today, I create jelly roll rugs, cozy home décor, and seasonal handmade items — each one crafted with intention, care, and a whole lot of heart.
